It’s Never Too Late

This word is as powerful as it says, it starts with “It” and draws to a close with “To” and a parenthesis where the readers are left to put in their own words in their minds. Just like this — it’s never too late to…

“The time for action is now. It’s never too late to do something” — Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Woke up this morning feeling indifferent as usual about the new month, a few months ago, I decided to stop my habit of posting “Happy New Month” to express my happiness of entering the new month. Not that anything was wrong in wishing others a happy new month.

Believe me, for a long time I hadn’t considered why I did the wishing you a new month thing till it recently occurred to me that — it wasn’t necessarily a to do. That’s when I made up my mind to stop.

A stronger reason for my resolve was because it reminded me that the year is quickly running out and some of my goals and plans were yet to be executed. So, I drafted out what I thought any one could do for each new month.

Here is what i think about every new month:

  • I think that it should be less of jollification and more of analysis and reinvention of plans where necessary.
  • I also think it should be that time of the month to take time out to know yourself more than you did the previous month and write out what new changes you underwent, if any.
  • Also, I think that journaling is a habit that comes in handy and this should help navigate your thoughts in the new month.

The three statements, exemplifies innovation, critical thinking and attitude.

So, I thought it right to encourage you today, the first day in the month of June. We are almost at the half of the year and a lot has happened this past few months.

Firstly, for a lot of people COVID-19 has changed their lives drastically, and some in their respective countries are only starting afresh now after an extended lock down period. Secondly, life has happened for many people; you might have been hurt in a relationship, lost a loved one or someone close to you, made a few mistakes that cost you a lot, in a dilemma on what next step to take in your life journey, I mean, the list is endless.

Whatever category you may fall in; know that you are not alone and your fears and pain are valid. Also, know that no matter what, you’ll be fine. I have my experiences and the same goes for others too. But today’s word for you is — it’s never too late.

Never too late to do whatever thing you might want to do: if you haven’t gotten a clue of what you might want. Take time out to find out what it is, and when you do, please go for it.

I loved Barbie cartoons while growing up, my dad bought DVDs of compiled collections of Barbie. What stood out for me in all her stories was her determination to never give up despite the many temptations and difficulties on her journey. This particular song from one of the cartoons is my favourite till date, this part of the lyrics stood out for me and I hope you find it helpful.

Barbie — Written in your heart.

And you’re always free to begin again
And you’re always free to believe
When you find the place that your heart belongs
You’ll never leave

Courage is the key that opens every door
Though you may not know where your gifts may lead
And it may not show at the start
When you live your dream
You’ll find destiny
Is written in your heart

Everything you imagine starts from the heart. Again, my word for you today is stay the course… Don’t give up now.

It’s never too late:

  • To begin again
  • To love again and heal again
  • To build again
  • To leave that relationship
  • To pursue that educational course
  • To get your apartment
  • To let go and breathe again.

Whatever your “TO” is, know that you can overcome them. Dust yourself off the ground, and find what next steps you can take to help your circumstances.

There are many resources online that can be of help, an example is e-books where you get to read any book of your choice. You can also speak to friends or family, if therapy will help.

In conclusion, It is never late and you are free to begin again.
